Mental Health First Aid Certification Training

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) teaches you how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges. Training is provided by the Cypress Resilience Project exclusively for Region 9 PHIG recipient health department staff (fees covered by the Region 9 Innovation Hub). Spots are limited to 30 participants per session.

What Does the Training Cover?

  • Common signs and symptoms of mental illness and substance use disorders

  • How to interact with people in crisis and connect the person with help

  • The "ALGEE" action plan

What is the Process?

  • Complete a 2-hour independent online learning module using a personalized login, which will be emailed to you upon registration.

  • Attend a 5.5-hour Zoom class with one of the MHFA trainers.

  • Successfully complete a quiz and evaluation to earn your certificate!
